- Tenure: Coral (Lynne) bka Lynne, appears to be quite and shy, however, the truth is, she is a multi-
talented social butterfly that is down to earth, and focused on her career and responsibilities as a
single parent and woman contributing to society and mankind. She believes that everything has a place
and time.
Prior to becoming a license cosmetologist in 1988, Lynne knew that as a single mom, her passion was to
be a role model and supportive mom to her daughter Donice and other youth. It was important to her that
they believed that could accomplish anything if they put their minds to it and have faith.
For the past twenty years or more she has labored in the beauty industry providing her clients with
professional haircare services; creating and replicating cut and hairstyles fit for queens and kings.
In 1991, she had her first opportunity to style hair for two hair shows at Grace and Elegance Hair Salon
which is where it all began. It was then that she realized her passions in productions. She desired to not
only style hair, but to take her career as far as it can go creating opportunities for other stylists like herself
in productions.
In 1994, she opended her own home-base salon "Heaven's Beauty Salon" which was dedicated to her
deceased mom, grandmother, grandfather, oldest brother, and favorite uncle, who were all close to
her, being the youngest girl out of six siblings. "Heaven" was that special place that she believed they all
had gone, as well as the fact that her clients deserved a salon experience like "heaven" and not "hell".
She began to write plays and produced a couple of events "Shop Talk" and "Shop Talk 2", allowing her
the opportunity to share with others her belief concerning inner and outer beauty. Meanwhile other
opportunities opened up for her to style hair for professional photographers, fashions shows, and a
independent film company while traveling and supporting her daughter "Donice Cully" in her career as a
Theater majoring in the Science of Musical Theater, model, singer, and song writer.
In 1996 she decided to continue her education in order to take her business to another level, and
advance in her career. For the past ten or more years she has been working on completing her
Associates Degree for Business Management, concetrating on Small Business, Marketing, and
Processing Media Material (which is where she gets to incorporate her writing skills and interest in
entertainment).
At the end of 2000, she decided to leave beauty industry for a while to work for the airline industry,
which was another dream. She says. "Luckily her reputation followed her into that industry as a stylist",
because shortly after her decision to change careers the airline industry was attacked on 911. Her
employement was no longer stable in the industry. However, she managed to land a couple of other
position where she was not only a gate agent, but ticket agent and ramp agent as well.
She knew that it was just a matter of time so she began to design a new and unique business for
Diversity Hair Productions" giving her a fresh start. The business operated out of a individual suite in Salon
Plaza. "Diversity Hair Productions" {with an oversize "D" for Donice, her daughter, close friend, inspiration,
and business partner). The word "Diversity" describes both her and her daughter's gifts, talents,
personality, along with the fact that she wanted the company to have versatility and opportunities for
everyone. While still employed with a major airline as a ramp agent she suffered injury to her right hand
while loading bags without a bag belt, which caused her to make the neccessary adjustments in her career
as a stylist.
At that time she recognized that she not only loved what she did as a stylist, but a customer service
agent as well. She also realized that she also had strong beliefs and convictions for employees and
women rights in employment. Her career ended with the airline industry due to the employer not
being able to offer light duty. Although she hated having to end her employment, she was happy to know
that her accident contributed to other employee's safety by pursuing a case with MOSHA (Maryland
Occupational Safety Hazardous Administration), requiring the Airline to get bag belts.
While still recovering from her injury in 2003 she managed she found light duty working at the US
Naval Academy, where she provided haircare services to the male and female mid-shipmens and officers in
the barber and beauty shop. Her employment ended there in 2005, while being recognized for providing
outstanding services and requested by many mid-shipmen and officers.
She says, " Trying to hold down employment with a company while starting your own business can be
stressful", so she has decided to freelance and work on her business plan with "Diversity Hair
Productions". Her last experience in travel was as a travel specialists for Travel Advantage Network
where she recieved recognition for her outstanding ability to book the largest group sales for the company
without any complications. Ironically, the sale was with one of the largest investors. She still hold the
travel industry close to her heart.
